After completing his A levels in 1962 Mike went up to Cambridge University to read natural sciences, obtaining first class honours in both parts of the tripos. During this time Mike indulged in his love of sport representing his college at rowing and the university at rugby. He then embarked on a post graduate course in molecular biology and was awarded a Ph.D. in 1969, having collected his MA on the way.
Much as Mike enjoyed the academic life he thought that he was in a rut and needed a change and joined the engineering giant Bechtel.
It is said that with age comes wisdom with travel comes understanding. Mike’s 30 plus years at Bechtel have imbued him with an abundance of both. During these years he has worked on projects at locations as diverse as Grangemouth UK, the UK/France channel tunnel, The Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Russia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, The Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, China, Trinidad, Iraq, Kuwait, Palestine/Gaza, Abu Dhabi UAE, Dubai UAE, and India.
Dr Wade lives in London and makes time for his many interests which include rowing, rugby, art, music, travel, and long walks by the river.
We are privileged to have Mike as chairman of our Advisory Board and to have the opportunity to benefit from his priceless wisdom.
