Jelmer is a highly academically qualified financial analysis professional with a business engineering diploma, an MBA from the William E. Simon School, Rochester – Erasmus, topped off with the prestigious designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) from the CFA Institute in the US.

In addition to the above educational qualifications, he also successfully attained the following :

  • Certified Financial Advisor IAF IfFP Institute for Financial Planning, Zürich Professional qualification as a specialist in wealth management, pension planning, insurance and real estate financing.

Jelmer’s career has seen him hold several consequential positions at market leading firms in the financial sector :

  • Head of Reporting & Analytics in which function he introduced and developed BVV2 derivatives reporting.
  • Head of the Financial Analysis team – Shaped the core-satellite approach and developed a GARP equity screening tool.
  • Managing Director of a fund house – Expanded the fund business with new in-house and private label funds and introduced new fund accounting software.
  • Head of Client Relations & Investment-Controlling – Built up new teams and strengthened the firms asset classes.
  • Investment Controller with the rank of Director – Provided clients in the French speaking part of Switzerland with consultancy in the areas of investment organization and strategy.
  • Group Controller at a private family office – Managed consolidation, financial planning and monitoring of investments, group companies, asset management and real estate portfolios, trust structures and non-profit organisations. He was instrumental in improving transparency, planning and decision-making through the provision of key financial figures and the introduction of benchmarking.

Currently, he is a senior executive at a highly reputed Swiss cantonal bank, where he has established a new staff unit for independent second-line control of asset management and advisory services, proprietary investment funds and savings plan applications.

Jelmer lives in Switzerland with his wife and 2 energetic young sons. He is an avid cross country skier, swimmer and mountain biker. When not doing sports, he enjoys gardening, reading and playing chess.
